Rev Sarah Murray, a minister with the Isla Deveron churches (in the Diocese of Moray, Ross and Caithness) will be part of a group travelling to Kenya next week, with Christian radio station UCB (United Christian Broadcasters) and child development charity Compassion UK.
Throughout July, any UCB listener who sponsored a child with Compassion, was considered to join a trip to Kenya to meet their newly sponsored child. Rev Murray was one of two sponsors selected and will be visiting her sponsored child, and Compassion projects in the Kisumu area. The trip will be covered on UCB radio throughout the week and a documentary following Sarah’s journey will be made and later shown on UCB TV.
“I was delighted to hear that I had been selected to join the trip,” said Rev Murray. “I think it will be an incredible opportunity both to meet Faith, my sponsored child, but also to bring stories and news back home to the community here in the North East of Scotland and in particular Keith, Huntly and Aberchirder. I think this will be an eye opening experience and a unique opportunity to see what life is like for many people in the developing world.”
Director of Broadcasting at UCB, Dave Withers said, “We’re looking forward to this trip, and to helping to raise awareness of the good that child sponsorship can do, for children and communities overseas. The documentary will be part of our ‘World of Hope’ series and will be shown on UCB TV later in September’.
The group travels to Kenya Sept 2-9
