New TV studios launched in Stoke on Trent

National Christian media organisation, United Christian Broadcasters (UCB) has opened a brand new, purpose built TV studio at its Burslem site.

The broadcaster has been producing faith-based TV programmes for UCB TV and other religious broadcasters from its Hanchurch site for several years, but has recently installed a second studio at its Westport Road building.  The studio includes two sets, one is a fixed set themed as a coffee shop and the second part is a flexible space used for filming conferences and interviews.

On May 18, UCB will open its doors to the public for the filming of ‘Facing the Canon’ with international speaker and minister Canon J.John.  The programme airs around the world and features interviews with some of the best-known names in the Christian community, including the Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby and the former Commander in Chief of the British Army, Sir Richard Dannatt.

“We’re looking forward to filming Facing the Canon in the new TV studios,” said Dave Withers, Director of Broadcasting at UCB.  “We’ll have a TV studio audience and it’s free to attend, so if anyone would like to see the heart behind a Christian TV station, they can reserve tickets on our website”.

Facing the Canon is on May 18 at 7pm.  To be part of the studio audience, free tickets can be reserved at www.ucb.co.uk/canon

Pictures of the new studio can be downloaded (for use in print/online publications) here

Isla Deveron minister to travel to Kenya with Christian radio station and child development charity.

Rev Sarah Murray, a minister with the Isla Deveron churches (in the Diocese of Moray, Ross and Caithness) will be part of a group travelling to Kenya next week, with Christian radio station UCB (United Christian Broadcasters) and child development charity Compassion UK.

Throughout July, any UCB listener who sponsored a child with Compassion, was considered to join a trip to Kenya to meet their newly sponsored child. Rev Murray was one of two sponsors selected and will be visiting her sponsored child, and Compassion projects in the Kisumu area. The trip will be covered on UCB radio throughout the week and a documentary following Sarah’s journey will be made and later shown on UCB TV.

“I was delighted to hear that I had been selected to join the trip,” said Rev Murray. “I think it will be an incredible opportunity both to meet Faith, my sponsored child, but also to bring stories and news back home to the community here in the North East of Scotland and in particular Keith, Huntly and Aberchirder. I think this will be an eye opening experience and a unique opportunity to see what life is like for many people in the developing world.”

Director of Broadcasting at UCB, Dave Withers said, “We’re looking forward to this trip, and to helping to raise awareness of the good that child sponsorship can do, for children and communities overseas. The documentary will be part of our ‘World of Hope’ series and will be shown on UCB TV later in September’.

The group travels to Kenya Sept 2-9
